Beginning classes in metal clay provide hands-on techniques and understanding of the characteristics of the clay as each student creates, fires, and finishes a piece of silver jewelry-- from designing it to wearing it home. Skills may be refined in Project Classes for those who want to develop their
mastery.  Metal Clay classes are about 5 hours in length.  Students are encouraged to bring a sack lunch; drinks are provided.  Classes are limited to a maximum of 5 students but I prefer to teach one-on-one or one-on-two.  ALL class materials and the use of tools are provided.  Clay for "take-home" is available for purchase.  Classes are $135.

Beginning classes in chain-weaving start with instruction on the proper opening and closing of the rings used for making chains.  This is the most critical element of making beautiful well-made chains.  Once the proper techniques are on their way to being mastered, two weaves and two variations will be taught:  the European 4-in-1 (and its cousin, the 6-in-1), and the Byzantine (and its cousin, the Box Chain).

The beginning chain class is approximately 3 hours long.  You will receive two pairs of chain-nose pliers and enough sterling rings to complete two 7" bracelets--one in each of the two main weaves--as well as two clasps.  Additional rings are available for purchase.  Cost of the classes is $135.

Scheduling
I have found it more convenient to form my classes by individual phone or email request, particularly since I prefer only one or two students at a time.  That way, I can make the time and date convenient for both the student(s) and myself.  Call me at (865) 938-4180 or email me at alacava@frontiernet.net.  I accept Visa or Mastercard as payment for classes.
